Hughes Estate Sales is thrilled to announce that we are handling the estate auction of John Patrick Burke (1949-2014), the Disney Imagineer behind Big Thunder Mountain, Frontierland, Indian Jones and the Temple of Peril, and much more. Starting his 30-year career with WED in the early 1970's, Burke was instrumental in expanding Disney's vision throughout the world to Japan and France, among other countries.
Not only was Burke an incredible designer, he was an incredible collector! As an Imagineer, he collected authentic artifacts from the Old West and turn of the Century Americana to enhance the authenticity of the Disney universe. These professional interests informed his massive personal collections and it is easy to connect the flavor of Disneyland Main Street to the 100s of antique gumball dispensers in Burke's collection.
