Hughes is excited to help spread the word about the inaugural Altadena Arts Festival, a day-long event that celebrates the Arts and Artists of our community at Charles White Park.
Charles White (American, 1918-1979) was an artist known for chronicling African American related subjects in paintings, drawings, lithographs, and murals. Over White’s four-decade career, his commitment to creating powerful images of African Americans was unwavering.
Altadena Arts is a newly formed cultural organization dedicated to celebrating artists, in the spirit of Charles White, especially artists of color, women artists, and artists with disabilities through the creation, production, and presentation of public artworks and arts education programs that are accessible and inclusive at Charles White Park and throughout the community of Altadena.
