Meet Kari Lung, Head of Research
Kari oversees the appraisal of fine art, antiques and collectibles. Because such items can fluctuate in popularity and price, she is always up-to-date on current trends. Kari earned her American Society of Appraisers (ASA) Certificate in Fine and Decorative Arts at UC Irvine. A Pasadena native, her passion for Californian 20th Century artists and their work inspires us all. Kari is pictured with a stunning Polia Pillin vase.
Polia Pillin (1909 – 1992)
Born in Poland, Pillin immigrated to Chicago in 1924 and settled in Los Angeles in 1946, where she worked out of her home studio known as the Pillin Art Pottery Company. Pillin painted Mid-Century motifs portraying female figures and animals onto hand-thrown pottery for nearly 50 years. Pillin’s distinctive work is now being rediscovered by the next generation of collectors.
